Glad your appetite is back! And wow, those bulk products. The number of jars needed is daunting, but rewarding to know that the food is there and saving time/packaging. Weird about the changes in the order though.
I have most of the veg you describe, and raisins too. Maybe I'll play around with the idea - having new ways to use the same veg is always a good thing.

Cranberries are delicious in so many things. I like the idea of adding the ginger in there too. Thanks for posting this :-)

Update: After a week to regroup, our farmer realized he could do about a month more of drop-offs, with a little bit of restructuring. So our season wasn't actually over. We're getting lots of greens, as usual for this season, so it's a good thing we know how to freeze them.

Yes it is. Our farm did not produce as well this year either. It was our first year, but I know that the corn suffered from all the rain, the blueberries had a really short season and a number of other vegetables just did not have a big showing. We are planning to stick with it next year though - although I think we are going to choose a closer farm to reduce driving. It is good to hear that other people are facing similar challenges and rising to above them for the greater good of supporting local farmers.

This is one of my favorite recipes! I've added apple cider too for the braising liquid, and it comes out so well. Perfect for this time of year.

I have been having many of the same thoughts about people's reactions to this difficult summer. Especially since it seemed to come at the time when so many more people are getting involved in gardening, local food, and their communities. This season could easily take out the motivation. I hope it doesn't go that way, and people don't decide its easier and safer to grab things from a supermarket where there is a steady supply of, say, strawberries year around. Sigh.
